COVETING KAAREM

With roots in Vietnam, we couldn't be crushing any harder. Kaarem has been on the indie fashion scene for some years now, making classic sophistication look completely effortless. Natural beauty and minimal accessories adhere to the less-is-more modus operandi of this design house and it's easy to see why. The loose-draping silhouettes do all the talking, revealing discrete femininity and alluring sexiness. Timeless and versatile in style, we're not concerned about seasons, but would be lying if we didn't say we were excited for SS16.

What's more - all pieces are thoughtfully designed and quality crafted in Saigon, furthering the country's movement of creatives aspiring to make waves on a global scale. Okay, maybe we could crush a little harder.

STREET INSPO: SAIGON

We're stationed in Saigon for 4 weeks, which explains the focus of the last few  posts, including this one. The longer we're here, the more we notice the details lurking beneath the surface. There's a lot of beauty in the mundane and it seems silly to passersby that we stop to appreciate them, but we do it anyway.  And the result is this: inspiration behind bars, down alleyways, under our feet, above our heads, and right in front of our faces. 

TALKING ABOUT: ONLY IN SAIGON

In search of happenings new and good, old and better, we came across a crew of talented young producers and videographers, putting in some work to highlight the lifestyle movement of today's youth in modern Saigon. From sneaker talk to hand-crafted beers, their evocative videos give a peek into the visions behind these forward-thinking, style-conscious, entrepreneurial-spirited pioneers of their generation. 

But that's not all - they also recognize and celebrate, in an equally handsome and reverent manner, the faces and crafts of the older, aging generation whose professions and art embody the heart and soul of the city. 

It's an exciting time to be in Vietnam to witness first-hand the revolution of the country's subculture led by guys like them. In the latest collaboration with Saigoneer, we entered the shop of famed Shoemaker Trinh Ngoc, located at 50 Ly Chinh Thang, District 3. His story is one of success and strife, as he was twice displaced by wars and once the cordwainer of choice for the Cambodian royal family.
